I am going through some very exciting changes in my life right now. It's seems like some light bulbs have suddenly switched on in my head, and now I see the world and my connection to it in a whole new light. An 'epiphany', in fact, several! :) I have a suspicion that you understand this...

Take care!
Mick

Well, the detail is, a tiny crack in my armor opened just far enough, so that a ray of truth slipped in. Then suddenly, I liked it so much, it opened wide, and I felt the Higher Power, the Great Spirit, in full force. I fought hard for fifty years against the bullshit they tried ramming down my throat in Catholic schools. Turns out, I had thrown the baby out with the bath water. I was closed to the good stuff that was really mixed up in there, just because the bad stuff was so obviously stupid. Suddenly, I've been given the gift of insight into the reality of a bigger spirit than mine, a spirit that is just as real and believable as any other "proven" theory of what makes the cosmos tick. They're all just trying to describe the same ultimate reality; why logic and science should be more acceptable routes of investigation into the truth, more than faith and insight and intuition, I just don't see anymore. It's all the same, tha answer is ultimately all the same. And when that hit me, and I let the spirit in just the tiniest bit, I was flooded immediately with all the magic, and spiritual insight, and science, and philosophy that ever was, and I saw it was all the same. All describing the same truth, the same reality.

In other words, I had a spiritual experience, a spiritual awakening, that I always longed for, but would never let happen, because I couldn't "prove" to myself it was legit. Jeez, now the greater spirit is just as real to me as the "lesser" spirits of my cats, or all the other people, or any life-force, or soul, or 'being". Truly amazing; very shocking and disorienting at first, but I didn't "wake up and it was all a dream", I didn't "sober up and get back to reality". It's not going away, it's not a fleeting glimpse this time. I'm glad this happened while I've got maybe 20 or thirty years left to enjoy it!

So how's it going with you? :D

Good for you! My family was Greek Orthodox (of course) but it was my Grandmother, unbelievably, who started defying "The Church" by GASP reading her Bible. The truths that are there are glaring and easy to understand to one who opens their eyes, and what you see is Organized Religion is a Snare & a Racket and they LIE to people about nearly EVERYTHING that's in the Bible. The common man has truly no idea that most of what's in today's "Christianity" is not found in the Bible. Being Greek, I know that it was Socrates and Plato that conceived ideas like the immortality of the soul, and hellfire, not Christ. But boy, try to tell a Christian today that there's no burning hell and they freak out -- which is odd, you'd think people would like to know that God really is a God of love and true justice, and didn't make or allow a "place of eternal torment" for anyone. I think people find comfort in not rocking the boat. But the problem with that is, then, that there is so much falsehood and hypocrisies in Christendom's Religion, then, that people do "throw the baby out with the bathwater"... they hate religion altogether, without realizing that it's not the Bible or God that's bad, just those false, greedy teachers. But, as you say, the bad stuff is really obvious (and stupid) to those who just open their eyes. I think people don't want to open their eyes and learn the truth because, first, it means to actually make an effort to read the Bible and learn the truth and then (gasp) they might actually feel responsible for what they learn, and OH NO... have to apply it!! aaghh! LOL

The Bible agrees perfectly with all logic and science. It does NOT say the earth was created in "six literal days" (how retarded) it DOES say the earth was made as a sphere hanging upon nothing (hmm that would've saved a lot of people a lot of weird "elephant and turtle" theories if they'd just read the book of Job) and it makes calm, logical sense. Yes, there's a call for faith and intuition but the Bible itself BEGS people to not make it a blind faith, but rather build faith based on facts. IE, the reason it was written was so we could see, "okay, this and this happened then, so if God says this and this will happen later, it's sure to because he already gave us proof to base our faith." I really hate the saying "blind" faith because it's just that... blind. And people who just believe on emotion are not true believers because their "faith" can be easily shifted the next time they are emotionally swayed in a different direction. People should research and study and try harder, you know?

It's very cool you had a spiritual experience. I urge you to back it up with study, not of thoughts of man, but of the Most Highest Thoughts available to mankind; the amazing, extra-terrestrial thoughts of the Most Supreme Spiritual Being of the Universe ... God Himself. Read the Bible and get God's thoughts, and your spiritual experience will become a truthful spiritual journey that will be well worth the effort, I promise you.

I'm fine, thank you, how are you?? :giggle:

Granny was a rebel, hmm? Well, why not!
You've written a beautiful and thoughtful response, and I thank you for it! Your words sound like what goes on inside of my own head, scary and fascinating and beautiful, searching, always searching for the truth. I will read more of the Bible, and try to stay open-minded, to all sides of the story.! It freaks me out, but it also moves my soul, to have truly powerful experiences. Most of the time I go for the easy comfort, or the cheap thrill; a quick flash of the thigh, another piece of candy, or another cup of coffee, to enhance my daily soul. It scares me and it hurts, to stretch my brain and soul, to grasp for it in fear and fascination, when the fact of something, someone, who is not a human being, and who is not solely of this earth, is thrust into my face, and I have to admit it, we are not alone. Why do we always feel so alone, why would we ever want to feel alone? Anyway, the crazy thoughts keep coming and so I keep pouring them out, and trying to feel them and experience them and be them, in that never-ending quest for more self knowledge, for the ultimate truth. I appreciate having an ear to bend, someone who seems able to talk about these things, thank you for your thoughts! There is so much out there, beyond our small human imagination, and it is not always pleasant to try to stretch and reach for it. It may be a whole lot more than we bargained for, than we wanted to happen. And then what might happen? We might have to get enlightened, to accept some things that we always refused to accept, god knows why. Human arrogance and ignorance. :) It's fascinating that we survive at all. I kind of like it though, it gives me something to think about, when there's no more episodes of 'Cops' on at the moment... ;) Thanks Athena.
